The Sentinel's Mission

The Sentinel has gone through several name changes since 1884, and of course many owners and publishers. We are only the most recent, and hopefully not the last. We are so excited to be a part of this historic newspaper!

Our Mission and ultimate goal are to bring back the true meaning of the hometown paper. We will look for news from national, state, and regional sources that impact us locally. We hope to engage, educate, and empower our readers with reading that informs and advances civic - and civil - dialogue.

Our Goal is to return to the tradition of sharing local news and events to the residents of Sheridan County and the surrounding areas. If it is news to our subscribers, it is news to us.
ARCHIVAL RESEARCH
The archives of The Kenneth Sentinel, The Hoxie Sentinel, and The Sheridan Sentinel began in 1884. There is a considerable amount of County and personal histories available; births, deaths, weddings, new businesses, and many other significant events.

We can help you research your family history in the area, any locally published event or activity (such as sports, business, etc.). Knowing an approximate date is helpful in finding the proper Archive Volume to search.

Archival Research Fees: $15 / hour ~ minimum 1-hour charge per request
